MULTIPLE BIRTHS ARE MORE COMMON BUT FACE DISADVANTAGES

The new record determines common challenges facing these families, consisting of greater risk of maternity problems and early birth, baby development hold-ups and unique needs, as well as monetary, psychological, and social support challenges.

"Twins—plus triplets and above—bring many unique experiences. But at every point of contact in our health and wellness system these families experience drawback, and this isn't well recognized," says Bolch. "There's a pushing unmet need for properly moneyed sources for moms and dads of young multiples to address their unique challenges such as enhanced social seclusion, stress and anxiousness and anxiety, insufficient bereavement support when several infants don't survive, and caring for babies with unique needs."
